{Roseville, Sacramento Family Photographer} Family Portraits

When I started my photography business I held photosessions with a lot of families.  Family’s with kids of different ages.  It was a challenge for me at first because you have to concentrate on more than two people and that’s not always easy.  Usually the mother will say, “Don’t...

It’s funny … I am so this way when it’s my kids being photographed. I hear the words and the tone coming out of my mouth and actually wish I could stop! Especially when the best photos I take of them are when I keep my mouth shut and just let them be!

I think you just spent a moment in my life. I worry about way too much. I need to let you just work your photographic magic and I will take a little walk while you do it.

What a gorgeous family. Sweet photo of them. Families are a bit challenging and it is very interesting to hear how you have coped..thanks for sharing :)

I agree =) the candid, silly pictures are always the best anyways (like the picture you took of me jumping in the air). People aren’t always totally in sync and happy all at the same time so its nice to capture all the moments.

I felt the same way. And sometimes you just have to hold the shutter down to ensure you will capture the right photo (Everyone smiling, looking at the camera at the same time, etc.), especially since that is what many parents want. But candid is great as well since you capture the emotion within the photo.

Thanks for this helpful post. I find family portraits to be challenging at times and sometimes I just want to take a zen moment myself. LOL!

I love the way you make the families look natural and candid.

That’s so true! We had a family portrait session done this fall and my usually happy smiley boy was so straight faced. I think we all put too much pressure on getting the perfect shot – I think we would have been much happier with a less formal/fun family photo shoot in a more natural environment.

You couldn’t have said it any better! It has nothing to do with the perfect outfit, perfect makeup or perfect KIDS!!! It is about the bond and love that you all share and capturing that today for all to remember tomorrow! Nicely done girlie!

Very nicely put Jen! You do so well capturing those special memories! Beautiful!

Christine & Jason

I met Christine a few years ago when her oldest and my middle were in pre-kinder together. I knew who she was because I always noticed the hip cute blonde girl that brought in her son. I always admired how cute she always seemed to dress, even at 9 in the am when I could...

Toot, toot, yea, beep, beep!

Spent the afternoon with my friend Christine (or should I say Hot Mama-cita) at the firehouse with her men. She’s just so hot and cute. The driver’s by couldn’t help but honk as she crossed the street. Toot, toot, yea, beep, beep. Here’s a sneak peek for you. Gorgeous boys, no?

After 16 years…

They’ve been married for 16 years. Still, at 16 years, he totally enjoys snuggling up to her. As I watch with the viewfinder of my camera, I see him look at her and smile, gets close and nuzzles into her. So I say, “Ok, whisper some sweet nothin’s into her ear.” A wide smile, a...
